FROM ART TO POLITICS
Art is a special category of experience and of information. It involves stimulus, challenge and satisfaction to the senses, to the mind, to mindsets and to ineffable aspects of the intuition and the unconscious.
It's harder to make Art and much harder to teach Art in an environment that is being ruined by human greed, fear and ignorance. Particularly when creative people - artists, scientists musicians and poets - have a clearer vision of a possible future than do the politicians. But Art and the urge to make Art will not die even if the rest of civilization crashes, because simple survival demands imagination, courage and craft.
This page will contain or lead to images of many works, in several groups of media. A few examples are visible here. For now I am concentrating on getting the rest of the site up. The "RANT" components - political agenda, philosophy, arguments for a revolution in thinking - all grow out of my Art-related interests. Beyond the survival of the species and the civilization we have made, it is concerned with how we think, the nature of creativity and freedom, blind spots and distortions in our thinking, and how imagination might be applied to the exercise of political power.
