Jefferson, Franklin and other founders modeled the U.S. Constitution and Democracy on Iroquois and other indigenous tribes. They had provisions for self-governing territories, threee branches, even a House-Senate division in their Congress. Two differences: women voted, and the Supreme Court judges were all grandmothers.
